Despite its limitations, PDF Wordsmith is probably the best PDF to Word converter you can find. I really love how easy it is to use this app. Not to mention its fast conversion speed - just a few clicks and youre done!
Gets the job done
I cant find any better PDF to word converter than this. Simple, clean interface with tons of features. Wordsmith definitely lives up to its name.
This works quite well. I used it on a paper that include chemical formulae, and it did have trouble with the subscripts. It put section breaks in, and used small font, instead of using a subscript. However, for something that is essentially OCR, the result was not at all bad. The biggest drawback I found was with the 10 page limit on the free version. Luckily, the paid version is only $8.99.
Converts but doesn’t retain formating.
Not much more useful than copying the text or elements from a PDF and pasting into word.
Does not convert anything
It just copies the PDF file as an image into a word doc. Text rendering is empty. Just another garbage PDF converter.

Can’t handle simple columns
Just didn’t work. PDF I was converting had several columns and it could not handle it at all. All came out in one long column.
Downloaded free version. It didn’t convert the pdf to a txt document at all. When it converted to a .docx file it just created an image of the pdf instead of converting it to text so it was useless.
